Atomized Aluminum

Finely atomized (spherical-particle) aluminum powder. In excess of 500 mesh, 95%+ purity, suspected to be recycled structural alloys.

Atomized Copper

Finely atomized (spherical-particle) pure copper powder, for use as a heat transfer medium, catalyst, or anything else one uses fine copper powder for. Mix with silicone grease for fantastic homemade heatsink paste!

Atomized Stainless Steel

Fine atomized stainless steel, chemically stable and non-toxic, good for adding weight, strength, or metallic finish to resins and epoxies. Particle size is about 44µm, or 325 mesh, on average. Primarily 316, but because the original metal was recycled, purity is not guaranteed.

Atomized Steel

Atomized steel powder, much finer than "iron filings" sold in most "science" kits to "children" these days, excellent for magnetics, fireworks, or adding cheap easy weight to your project.

Very capable pigment for making magnetic pastes, putties, and paints, but a little too clunky for proper ferrofluid. Some paint mediums react with metallic powders over time, so we recommend mixing and using as needed.

Also works well for cold-casting, which is a way to cast objects with a metallic look, weight, and feel, but without the machinery necessary to actually cast steel. Simple mix roughly 1/1 by weight of this powder with your resin of choice, let cure, then polish for a metallic finish. As this is iron, not stainless (which we also offer), it will rust, just like actual iron.

Bismuth Shot, 99%

Bismuth is probably most well-known for the incredible crystals it forms, commonly sold at "mineral" shows, even though they are completely synthetic.

Other uses include low-melting point alloys such as solders and pepto-bismol. Bismuth is also the most diamagnetic element, meaning it repels all magnets, regardless of pole. However, the effect is extremely weak.

Black Iron Oxide, Fe3O4

Black iron oxide, a very common black pigment, finds use in all sorts of crafts, and can make a higher energy thermite than the red stuff.

Boric Acid, H3BO3

Boric acid finds many uses, including as a flux keeping metals corrosion free at high temperatures (and dissolving oxides), often used for melting precious metals and various welding processes. It's even used around the home to kill various pests such as roaches.

Electromagnetic Iron Powder

Nickel Chunks, 99.94%

Very pure chunks of nickel, the beautiful shiny metal that makes coins and stainless steel possible.

Sticks to a magnet, but contains no iron and will not rust! A unique example of magnetic but non-ferric metal.

Chunk weight varies, you are however guaranteed at least 1 ounce of nickel. Most weight 1.5+ ounce, if you're interested in buying by exact weight, contact us.

Pewter Shot

Partially recycled lead-free pewter. Melted and dumped into water. Great for casting stuff.

Polypropylene Resin

Industrially pure, natural, un-pigmented polypropylene pellets, used as a stock for the manufacture of plastic parts (121 billion pounds made in 2013), as well as an economical filling for beanbags and craft projects that will never rot or mildew. Pellets measure 3-5mm, and are irregularly shaped, as shown in the first photo.

Potassium Nitrate, KNO3

Classic oxidizer for all projects, used in countless pyrotechnic and other reactions involving nitrates or oxidizers. This form is prilled, or in small 1-3mm round pellets, as shown. Also used as an oxidizing flux for precious metal smelting.

Obviously pyrotechnics are dangerous, so please don't try to make your own.

Red Iron Oxide, Fe2O3

Red iron oxide, a very common dull red pigment. Used in all sorts of crafts, and is famously a component of basic Thermite.

Silica Gel Desiccant, Blue Indicating

The classic silica gel found in those packets in food to absorb moisture and protect whatever doesn't like being moist, but with a twist: This silica gel has a small percentage of cobalt chloride, which makes it a beautiful blue when dry, and a pale pink when saturated, so you can tell when to refresh it!

Cobalt chloride is mildly toxic, so it is not recommended that you discard large quantities of this silica gel after use. Instead, bake it at 110°C (or 220°F) until it returns to blue, and it's ready to be re-used!

Also not recommended for direct contact with food, but perfectly safe to share a sealed container with it.

Silica Gel Desiccant, White

Same as the blue stuff but it does not change colors. Also represents slightly less of an environmental hazard attributing to the lack of cobalt-based dye that the blue stuff has.

Sodium Silicate

Tin Shot, 99.95%

Super pure (99.95%+), super shiny, super beautiful tin! One of the easiest metals to melt and cast at only 450°f melting point, completely non-toxic in almost all forms, and doesn't corrode under normal conditions. What's not to like?

Titanium Dioxide, TiO2

98% pure titanium dioxide powder. Long ago replaced lead as an opacifier and white pigment in most paints. Also a primary ingredient in some suntan lotions.

Wash Bottle, Unitary, 250ml

Standard, classic 250ml wash bottle. Pour spout is molded directly into the side of the bottle for more reliable dispensing, and easier filling via the wide-mouth cap.
